Topic: Studies of recrystallization today and tomorrow Speaker: Prof. D. Juul Jensen Section for Materials Science and Advanced Characterization, Department of Wind Energy, Technical University of Denmark, Ris? Campus,Denmark Time: 10:00-12:00 AM., (Fri.) May 23, 2014 Venue: Room 403, Shi Changxu Building, IMR CAS Abstract: The aim of this talk is to present state of the art studies of recrystallization of deformed metals and to discuss directions for future research within this field. Focus is on the importance of local structural variations in the deformed sample on the subsequent recrystallization. The talk will cover many aspects of recrystallization, including nucleation and growth by boundary migration as well as recrystallization kinetics. Most of the results to be presented are based on advanced experimental characterization but also implications for advancing theoretical modelling of recrystallization will be discussed. The work will be illustrated by case stories related to metals like aluminium, copper and steel deformed to medium, high and very high strains at low and high strain rates; thus covering recrystallization happening in both micro- and nano-structured deformed materials. The future trends to be discussed will focus on the importance of local structural variations on various length scales and on experimental techniques suitable for studies hereof. |
